A Pink Flamingo Sunrise

I stood there, with my feet soaked in mud. I was afraid to move even an inch; didn’t want to scare them away. I slowly waded forward, pulled by my desire to get just a little bit closer, lest they fly off in the next few minutes. It is always a trade off between how close you can get before they they fly away. Chasing a pink flamingo for a shot was one of those things.

There was also the danger of being attacked by the flamingos. I did not really know whether a pink flamingo can attack you or not, and was definitely not in a position to run a quick google search, with my camera and lenses filling up my hands and my backpack weighing down and ready to fall off into the mud any minute. I just hoped they took me as a fan trying to get a fan pic, and would approve of my meddling and causing a tiny disturbance in their morning breakfast.

I think it worked.

The moment the Sun started rising in the sky, and decided to turn up its heat, they all – as if awakened by an alarm – took off into a flight, all together, in one heartbeat. A few seconds, and they were gone.
